I took so many pictures of our trip to Mexico (no surprise right?), and was trying to decide the best way to show them all. I thought about doing pics in categories, like the resort, at the beach, our city tour, etc, but I decided I would do a day-by-day recount of the trip. I figured this way also when I go to scrapbook it I’ll have all the info saved here and will be able to journal about it easier. :)
So, at the beginning…..
Our trip started by arriving at the airport around 9:00 am as our flight was leaving at 11:00 am. We live about 15 minutes from the airport so it didn’t take us long to get there, and we didn’t need to wake up super early, but I couldn’t help feeling like a kid on Christmas morning! I went to bed around 2:30 am (see my Monday post as to why!) and then woke up again at 6:00, 6:30 and then finally got up at 7:00.
10:00 am isn’t too early for a pre-trip beer, right? ;)
Getting ready to leave,we’re so excited!
My in-flight snack, cookies. Really Delta, really?
Filling out customs forms!
Note the typeo…CARRING… not carrYing….haha! It’s misspelled twice on this form! Also, it’s no declaring, instead of NOT declaring, ha.
We’re here! It was about a three hour flight, and we gained an hour as we went into Central time. After going through customs we took buses (through our Delta Vacation people) to our hotel, the Riu Jalisco and got there around 6ish I believe.
They greeted us with fruity drinks and snacks and welcomed us with a fun sign!
We checked in and went up to our room to drop our bags off. This cute towel dinosaur greeted us and I was hoping for some more towel animals each day we were there!
We then walked around the resort and soaked in the sun! This is in the main courtyard and we’re up on the patio overlooking the view.
They always had fun activities going on and Jake jumped in for a jump rope contest!
All the food at the resort was buffet style so while I didn’t take pictures of the food there, I did take some of the fruit they’d cut into cool shapes and animals!
As you were finishing up your meal they would ask if you wanted “Mexican Coffee” which was coffee with alcohol…so good! It was heated up over an open flame!
The finished Mexican Coffee complete with sugar on the rim! The next night they did cinnamon and sugar on the rim which added another spice and was so good!
After dinner we walked around the resort, stopping at each of the little bars getting drinks so I didn’t get a lot of pics at that point. ;) We finally ended up at one of the little bar/café places right by the beach so that we could….
After that little café/bar closed the only one still open was the Sports Bar which worked because the boys wanted to watch the Pacquaio fight. The brunette is from Canada and we talked with her for awhile before leaving after 2am-ish to finally go to bed!
Tomorrow, Day 2 of Mexico!
