Project 365: 2/20 - 2/26

I have been so tired this week and I'm still not sure why. You wouldn't be able to tell that from these pics, LOL! Still the same routine and schedule we've had for the last couple weeks, but I guess now that I'm actually committing to 2x a week at the gym (haha yeah I have to start low!) and had a sick kiddo it was a rough week. Gwynie is still coughing like crazy so tomorrow it's the doctor's office for her. :(

2-20 - Completely cleared out and cleaned out my fridge. Impromptu cleaning since Jake went grocery shopping and came home with bags upon bags of food, but it felt pretty good to clean out the fridge and toss some expired condiments. I am lame that I love cleaning and organizing, ha!

2-21 - Not that I was having a horribly bad day, but Jake knows when I'm feeling a little stressed or overwhelmed and surprised me with these tulips on his way home from the gym. Such a bright and pretty color these were the perfect thing to cheer me up!

2-22 - Limited edition tees at work! To get one of these you had to submit a reason why you love to work at CL. The top 10 reasons were picked and the 10 people got one of these shirts. So exciting that my reason was a top 10 because you know I love my job and my company!

2-23 - Photo taken later in the evening, but when I was in the drive-thru at Starbucks that morning Jake and I sent each other texts about the same thing AT THE SAME TIME...ha! Deron Williams was traded to the Nets and I think it's hilarious that we both thought to alert each other. ;) (The text before that? I thought I'd had a gift card to Kohl's but couldn't find it when I went to pay and was glad my new pants had been on sale, haha.)

2-24 - In preparation for Cirque du CLEARLINK our company awards party, two girls at work are making masks and just charging for the supplies - sweet deal! I sketched out what I wanted on a post-it (taken with my phone) and can't wait to see this mask in person!

2-25 - Happy Dance at work! This was the most hilarious 15 minutes ever! As part of our 360 Fit program they did a "dance-a-thon" and Brandon ended up funny! My cheeks hurt so bad after from grinning and laughing, it was a blast!

2-26 - Homemade pizza for dinner! Jake would like to eventually do his own pizza crust, but for now we love the Digornio and we all absolutely love his pizza!

Thursday Thoughts

I did this a couple weeks ago and enjoyed the exercise so I thought I'd do it again! It really makes me focus on things I'm loving in my life right now, which is a good reminder of what I have to be thankful for, and I can appreciate all those little things too. :) Not sure if I'll do it every Thursday, but I'd love for this to be something I do on a frequent basis, so here is my latest installment of Thursday Thoughts.

1. Special K cereal bars, especially the Vanilla Crisp flavor = super yum! They are 2 Weight Watchers points, and although pretty small, it's the perfect afternoon treat. (Food will probably be a common theme here, ha.)

2. Loving/hating that Easter candy is on the shelves. I've lost 16 pounds since last June and those Cadbury Mini Eggs are calling my name, but honestly it's almost a whisper at this point. I'm focused on a goal here!

3. Decided that my One Little Word for this year should be changed the first week of January but fought myself over it. I'm stubborn like that. The word that kept popping up for me was "experience" and I actually went back and forth between that and "simplify" for awhile. Finally a few things sunk in to make me realize that experience was meant to be. My 29 Things list is comprised of many things I want to experience so I quit fighting myself and gave in to change it. Funny how that makes me feel better acknowledging it and making it public knowledge.

4. Amazingly proud of my Mom and Sister and their incredible weight loss stories! Laci sent me a couple pics today and shared this link to document her weight loss journey. Seriously so proud of them! I plan on doing a Before/After post of the three of us girls in a couple months.

5. Bought these pants yesterday in a size that I haven't worn in almost 7 years...what an amazing feeling! Plus they are comfortable but still look polished - love that! I'll share some pics later of my before/after pants, it's hilarious!

6. Really want to try this stuff out. I've heard people talk about dry shampoo but I'm still wondering how my hair will feel after. From what I've heard it's amazing stuff and your hair has that fresh washed feeling without all the damage. May have to get this and test out to tell you about on another Thursday Thoughts.

7. Brady knows the words to every song on the radio right now. Not sure if I should be impressed or embarrassed that he knows all the words to Rhianna's "Only Girl in the World" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream". I'm going with impressed since he also knows all the words to "Down," "Love the Way You Lie" and "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and keeps me entertained by belting out random songs when the mood strikes.

8. Gwynie cracks me up with her quick wit and glib remarks. Watching American Idol last night (only for the new judges though, ha) and some girl was bawling and saying she wanted it so bad. Without missing a beat Gwynie said, "Then suck it up and sing..." Pretty sure that is going to be a running joke/inside joke at our house now, it was that classic.

9. LOVE having my husband home again! He is so good to me and I'm not quite sure what I did to be so lucky and have him in my life, but whatever the reason I'm so grateful. Remember last time I said I realize I'm not Super Mom and I'm ok with it? Well, turns out I wasn't as ok with it as I thought I was. Super Jake to the rescue to remind me that he's there to help with dishes and laundry and that I don't need to do it all or carry all the burden. Plus, he smells good too - that's a good quality to have right? ;)

10. Must find a dress for the company awards party that is next weekend...yikes. I'm looking for a perfect LBD - little black dress. I've looked online before venturing out into stores and haven't found anything I've loved thus far. Suggestions on places to look? Ideally I would like a cocktail dress that is sleeveless, form-fitting, and knee-ish length. Not too much to ask for right? ;)

SSD #65 - Happy Birthday!

It's another SSD Sketch Tuesday and this week is another great one, but sadly the last from our sketch artist Lea Lawson. We've had so much fun with her sketches and have loved seeing all of the Guest DT members cards!

Here is the final February sketch.

Do you ever have a card in mind and it turns out nothing like you pictured? Ya, that would be this card, ha! I still like it though and would like to recreate the emboss resist at another time since I think this butterfly stamp from Heartsong looks awesome with this technique!

To acheive this look, take a white square of cardstock, clear emboss the butterfly, and then sponge ink over top of the stamped image. Wipe off the embossed butterfly to reveal the white beneath...such a fun look! I also added some glitter (with score tape) to dress it up a little bit. I really like these colors together and definitely want to do another card similiar to this in the future!

Make sure to visit the other "Stamp Tramps" to see what they created, or visit the SSD Blog!

Project 365: 2/13 - 2/19

This week was all about Brady it seems since he's in three of the photos from this week! I didn't necessarily mean to leave Gwynie out as she happened to be my photographer one night, so I'll try to get more of her soon, or hopefully balance them out. ;)

2/13 - Gwynie got a Teen-ie Bopper magazine (I have no clue what it was called) at the store and spent 2 hours reading every single article, tidbit and factoid in it. Which she then told us all about, ha. The appeal? Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Taylor Lautner were on the cover. ;)

2-14 - Valentine's day...a holiday I really don't care much for, but Jake made me rethink that with this pretty surprise necklace. I have a thing for 3's (Jake, Gwynie and Brady) so this necklace and the one they got me for my birthday 3 years ago represents them. Love that he thinks about such little details and truly surprised me with this.

2-15 - I had a meeting to go to tonight so Gwyie played photographer at Brady's wrestling practice. This is what happens when Brady (in blue) puts you in a "Gut Wrench"...sorry other little kid. At the tournament we went to on Saturday Brady did this move a lot, and I heard someone say behind me, "Wow, that kid really knows how to gut wrench!" it. FYI - the gut wrench is a basically a series of rolls or turns of your opponent where you expose their back to the mat and earn back points.

2-16 - So I knew they predicted storms and snow, but I was really disappointed to see all this come down...sad. And that's all I have to say about that. :(

2-17 - We were less than a minute away from the high school for wrestling practice and Brady got his fingers stuck in a Chinese finger trap! And of course he couldn't figure out how to get his fingers out, LOL! We got to the school and I told him to hop out so I could get his fingers out...but since he had been buckled in, he was stuck in his seatbelt, ha! Sooooo glad I had my camera with me, this was priceless!

2-18 - I've been going to Weight Watchers since June and finally today hit a big goal for myself. I've lost 10% of my starting weight since joining (it only took 7 months, ha!) and got this keychain thing. I'm about 7 pounds away from my goal weight and will have lost a total of 23 pounds once I hit that. I would love to lose it by May before we go to Mexico!

2-19 - Wrestling tournament at North Summit. Brady took 2nd in Freestyle and 3rd in Folkstyle. The matches he lost were sooooo close. One he lost only by criteria, one he lost in overtime, and one he lost by 2 points, so all super close matches. He had actually taken a month off (he got infantigo from some borrowed mats) and had only been to a couple practices this week so we're proud of him for working so hard. He loves wrestling and I love watching him!

This week is starting out a little rough with lots going on, but I'm sure we'll make it through! ;) I think one of the things I love about Project 365 is that I never know what my picture of the day will end up being. Like the finger trap thing...I'd already taken a pic of my Starbucks and aspirin that morning at work (it was one of those days), but of course the second picture was the best. Curious to see how the next few months go!

Imaginise Vendor Review

Make sure you scroll down for the SSD Blog Hop!

I have an article up at Craft Critique today that you don't want to miss! I had a blast working on it and I can't imagine not having this tool - it's so cool!

There is a giveaway so make sure you leave a comment on the article at CC! Good luck!

Pumpkin Seed Sentiments Release Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop to celebrate the release of Pumpkin Seed Sentiments! If you've just happened upon my blog today, make sure to start from the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have arrived here from Jennifer Ingle's blog.

Combined with the blog hop today, it's also Skipping Stones Sketch Tuesday which means we're showcasing another great creation from our Guest Sketch Artist this month, Lea Lawson. We'd love for you to play along with the sketch and link your card at the Skipping Stones Blog. A free stamp set is up for grabs to a lucky winner that joins our sketch challenge!

Here's the sketch we used this week, lots of room to show you Pumpkin Seed Sentiments!

It has been such wonderful weather here in Utah that I had to go with some bright and fun colors for today! It's supposed to be stormy by Thursday, but I will take the sunny weather while we have it!

Although you can't quite see the stamping on the snaller butterflies, I've used all three of the background stamps that you'll find in this set - one on the orange butterflies, one on the yellow, and the last one on the main image panel in turquoise. The sentiment is also from Pumpkin Seed Sentiments.

I don't know about you, but I feel like I am always in need of more "Thank You" cards in my stash, and I'm sure this cheery little number will totally brighten someone's day!

You're next stop on the hop is to Angela Thomas!

A master list is posted below if there are any stops along the hop.

Have a great day!

Project 365: 2/6 - 2/12

This by far has been such a weird week! I know part of it was work stuff that was going on, and part of it was Jake being gone for State Wrestling, but I don't think I was able to capture the weirdness of this week. However, there were still some fun things that went on!

2-6 - A very short and drastic haircut! I was upset at first, but it's starting to grow on me. If anything it taught me to be patient and wait for my regular stylist. ;)

2-7 - Why yes this is a pot of rice, but why you ask? I am known for burning rice at my house (remember I don't cook at all guys), and this was my first successful attempt at making rice for swedish meatballs. I actually cooked when Jake was at a Wrestling tournament instead of resorting to fast was a miracle or so the kids thought!

2-8 - No red peppers at our local grocery story, so we ended up with these pretty yellow/orange ones. They sure made delicious fajitas! (So glad Jake was back home to cook, not sure if I could have done it two nights in a row!)

2-9 - Only three toothbrushes in the holder...We miss Jake a lot when he's gone on the weekends for wrestling tournaments, but it was even harder when he was gone during the week. Can't even tell you how happy it makes me to see four toothbrushes when I go to bed at night! ;)

2-10 - Brainloaf!! Or at least that is what Brady and I call it! Brady LOVES meatloaf and can mix it all up himself, which he also loves to do. Since hamburger resembles brains (to a little kid it does!) and then you add the ketchup (blood) to the top, we love to call it BRAINLOAF! Then we pretend we're zombies...ahhh good times. ;)

2-11 - Happy birthday to Jake! Jake wanted to go to Simply Sushi for his birthday lunch, and he knew it was on my 29 Things list to try. I'm so glad we went because I actually found some things that I liked! I only tried the crab and shrimp ones, and one with scallops, but so far so good. I'm actually looking forward to trying out new rolls and maybe even some fish ones next time! Still don't particularly care for the seaweed, but it's not as bad as I thought.

2-12 - Happy mail! My issue of Paper Crafts magazine, and Jake's Golf Digest magazine. These were the only things in our mailbox bills or junk mail...happy mail day! case you were new haircut. This was Friday night at Jake's 30th birthday party. We went to Keys on Main (a dueling piano bar) and had such a great time! We had tables reserved for 30, and had almost that many people show was crazy and so much fun!

Leave it to our husbands to "bomb" our cute picture! ;)

We're off to go watch Gnomeo and Juliet with the kids to celebrate Jake's birthday with them. They got him gift cards to Game Stop and Cabela's so I'm sure we'll be headed there sometime this week! Hope you all are having a great weekend! It's almost 60* here which is a freaking miracle for SLC in February! I am loving it and the sunshine!

Keepin it real

I'm in a talkative/contemplative enter a blog post about my random thoughts, ha. Plus, Jake isn't home tonight and I usually have a hard time getting to sleep when he isn't blog post it is! And it's long, sorry. ;)

1. Love, love, love this lotion (Dark Kiss from Bath & Body Works) that I got a month or so ago. I actually wasn't going to get it, but Jake really liked the smell so I thought why not. My bottle is almost gone now - I use it like crazy! Every time I put it on people always comment on how good it smells so if you're looking for a new lotion I would definitely recommend it.

2. Finished up The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest over the weekend. What an incredible series. I have a few books in my "To Read" pile but I'm not sure quite when I'll get to them.

3. My favorite snack right now - A Laughing Cow cheese single (light) with 10 Reduced Fat Triscuts - so good! Love rounding out my little snack with an apple, too. It's the perfect afternoon or mid-morning treat.

4. I'm facing the fact that my hair has gotten super thin and has always been fine, but that unfortunately is a lethal combination. The last few years I've realized I need to keep it short and on Sunday I cut it super short. I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me now. I'll share pictures on Sunday during my 365 update.

5. Jake is not home right now because of State Wrestling. It's actually bittersweet for me. I am so excited to have my husband back home again, but I know that this is his passion and he will be sad to see the high school season end. At least we'll have Peak Wrestling and Brady's tournaments to keep Jake busy.

6. Some commercials really make me wonder....pajama jeans, really? Especially the commercials that are on at midnight when I'm sitting here posting.

7. I am so proud of my Momma! In the last few months she's lost over 40 pounds (more than that actually I think, but I don't know the exact number) and looks amazing. She posted a new pic on her Facebook and I was totally blown away! My Momma is such a hottie and I think she is going to age so gracefully and beautifully.

8. Jake turns 30 on Friday! Some days I feel like we are still our 18 and 19 year old selves when we first met, ha. The kids and I are going shopping tomorrow (well technically today) for a present...not sure what that will be yet but I have a few ideas. We're meeting friends for a night out to celebrate Friday night and I can't wait!

9. Headaches suck. They aren't migraines though so I will take a headache any day over the migraines I used to have. Still irritating though.

10. Some days I wish I could be Super Mom of Everything. I'm sure we all have this same thought, but I think I'm at the point where I'm over it, ha. I know I won't ever get everything I "want" to get done in a day, let alone a weekend, but I'm accepting that I'm human and that I need to appreciate the things that I have accomplished.

So how about you guys? What's been on your mind? If you have some great healthy snack ideas I'd love to hear them, or what's been going on in your life?

It's almost 1am here so I better get to bed or I will regret it in the morning! I'm feeling pretty tired finally so hopefully I don't toss and turn all night. At least there is one positive - a nice big bed all to myself! ;)

SSD Sketch Tuesday #63!

Yesterday I had to present for my Employee of the Year nomination/award (scroll down to 2-1). I presented in front of five of our top level executives and owners of the company - slightly intimidating? Why yes, yes it was. It was an incredible experience to say the least though! No matter what happens I am so thrilled to be recognized as being in the top 10% of my company (there are 11 staff level nominees out of 130 staff employees) and even if I don't get to do my "Trip of a Lifetime" if I win the award I still get to go to Mexico in stoked for that! :) They'll announce the winner at our annual Awards Party on 3/5 and the suspense will probably kill me until then, haha!

Anyway, I survived presenting and am here today for a new SSD sketch challenge!

I missed out last week, but I was so excited to be back with our super talented Guest Sketch Artist Lea Lawson's second sketch!

For my card I paired up Birthday Purses and I'm giving you another sneak peek at Pumpkin Seed Sentiments being released next Tuesday! Don't those purses look cute side by side together like that? I love that cute sentiment so it was fun to play on the words and create "friend" purses. :)

Project 365: 1/30-2/5

Yes I've been tired and lots going on right now! It has been a whirlwind week and I think you'll see why in the photos below! I've been so exhausted and haven't been in the crafting/blogging mood so hopefully things turn around soon!

1/30 - Sunday night dinner was Manicotti, baked asparagus, and these pretty little "tuxedo" chocolate covered strawberries! We have been hooked on Kitchen Boss (we were already big fans of Cake Boss) on TLC and had to try out some of Buddy's amazing recipes! Love that Jake enjoys cooking because he did a fabulous job with dinner and we all loved it!

1-31 - Time to start working out again! Made it much more enjoyable reading on my iPad. Did low intensity for 20 minutes on the treadmill, 20 on the bike and 20 on the elliptical. Sure, it takes longer doing it that way instead of a quick 30 min high intensity work out, but I really enjoyed my workout and reading so it was a win/win for me!

2-1 - OMG!!! Best and most shocking news ever! I was nominated as an Employee of the Year and I get to go to Mexico in May! They nominated 11 people this year for the top 10% of Staff and I feel so incredibly honored and grateful for this opportunity. I'll also have the chance to present on why I should win the "Trip of a Lifetime" and we'll find out who wins that at our annual Awards Party on 3/ exciting!

2-2 - The nominees for EOY were taken out to lunch and then we were all given $200 to spend on sunglasses for Mexico! I picked up some fabulous Prada shades that are basically my pride and joy at the moment! ;) Why yes I am the only girl....HA!

2-3 - Another cat picture I know, but this was too hilarious! Brady did a pretty good job taking this pic didn't he?! I was working away on my laptop and Roxy crawled right underneath it on my lap. She did this as a kitten and I think she loves the warmth as well as snuggling on my lap. Doesn't she look comfy (even though she barely fits anymore)?

2-4 - Taken with my phone since I left my camera sitting on my table when we left. :( Went to Classic Skating for Ari's birthday party and the kids had a blast skating around and playing in the bounce house. One little girl even gave Brady a little plastic rose during the "Snowball Dance" haha!

2-5 - BEST 10 minute dinner! Jake was in Bear River for Sectionals and when I'm left to fend for me and the kids for dinner it doesn't usually end in the desired results. We eat a LOT of Wendy's when Jake is out of town or has late practices. ;) This however is something that is so simple and easy to make and is soooo tasty! Boil the ravioli, heat sauce and then chop up veggies for a salad. Sprinkle freshly shredded parmesan cheese over your bowl of ravioli and it's ready to eat in literally 10 minutes!

So as you can see it's been a little crazy this week! Wrestling season is almost over (State is Wednesday and Thursday) and then it's just the little kid practices we'll have two nights a week. I'll get my husband back though, even if it means that now almost every weekend we'll be at Brady's tournaments. ;) Also, since we're going to Mexico in May, that means we'll need to get our passports sooner from my 29 Things list...crazy!
Really hoping I'll get some energy back this week and that I can focus on some goals. Have a great week!
