29 Things Before I'm 30.....and a giveaway!

**STAMP giveaway at the bottom, but you have to read through it all for it to make sense, kay?!

Yep I'm the big 2-9 today! I know, I know, hardly so old at all, but this is the last year of my twenties. I hear 30 is the new 20 and all my friends are doing it, so it can't be all that bad right? ;)

I saw on a bloggie friends post a couple weeks ago a list of things she wanted to do before she turned 28...a list of 27 things. Thanks for the awesome idea Katy! So being the goal setting and list loving person that I am, I decided to do a list for myself. Some are a little silly, some are meaningful, some I really hope to accomplish and some are there just to get me to do them. Some goals will make me stretch and while others may seem easy, well it's all about making the time to actually do them.

I'm giving myself from today until the end of next year on my birthday to finish the list. Sort of fitting that my birthday is the last day of the year so it feels like I have an entire and complete full year with this list. Which I actually do (and you could too!). I like it. Plus, it totally works for those New Years resolutions that usually go right out the window after January.
So I present to you.....

29 Things Before I'm 30

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. – Mark Twain

1. Project 365
2. Renew our vows for our 10 year anniversary
3. Go on a cruise for our 10 year anniversary (August 2011)
4. Get a passport
5. Complete Couch to 5k program
6. Run in a 5k
7. Lose 10 pounds
8. Read at least one book a month
9. Get a new tattoo
10. Take a cake decorating class
11. One day without technology…NONE, not even texts/phone calls/tv, etc.
12. 40 bags in 40 days - (March 9th to April 23rd)
13. Plan and attend 2nd annual Girlfriends Getaway
14. Blog every day for a whole month
15. Complete all challenges from the 52 More Scrapbook Challenges book (39 left)
16. Print pictures through June 2010
17. Learn how to can and make Jake’s Grandma’s fruit cocktail and salsa
18. Go on at least one road trip this year
19. Buy Someone Like You for my bf Sara and mail it with a letter telling her how much she means to me
20. Start geocaching with Jake and the kids
21. Find 10 geocaches this summer
22. Redecorate Gwynie’s room
23. Redecorate Brady’s room
24. Buy a freaking pair of glasses so I don’t wear my contacts all the time
25. Attend at least 5 sporting events
26. Go snowboarding with the fam (even though I hate snow)

I'm hoping that I can update here often (or sporadically as the case may be) as I check off goals, cross things off my list, and feel that sense of accomplishment as I tackle each item. I really hope that I can stay focused on this all year long, ha!

But, did you notice the list is not complete? That's where you come in, with my next piece of fun! I have a stamp set to giveaway, and for your comment I want to know what can I add to my goal list! I have three spaces open, and I may leave them open until something really good comes up, but I'd like to fill it in now if all possible.

So, to win my favorite SSD stamp set Cupcake Cutie, (which totally fits for a birthday giveaway!) simply leave me a comment about your New Years goals, or something I can add to my list! You can leave comments up until Wednesday, January 5th, and I will announce the winner on the 6th! Hopefully I'll be able to fill you in on those last three goals at that time too. :)

Have a wonderful New Years Eve and take care!

Happy Holidays!

Even though the Christmas rush is over, you could still send out a "Happy Holidays" card to friends and family to ring in the New Year if you missed some Christmas cards here and there. Please tell me I'm not the only one that totally crashed and burned in sending out cards this year? ;) Since we're all about time these days (and keeping cards simple for mailing costs), how about a super simple and super flat last minute card? (Yeah, cause I'm really liking that nowadays!)

This card uses the newly released Sentiment Frames #1 for a simple "no-layer" design. Stamp the frame in red, sentiment in black, top off with a little bling and BAM...done! You likey? The thing I love most is that you can change out the colors and sentiment with the other Birthday and Congrats sentiments in this set to create an adorable little gift set. Think I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

TOMORROW is my birthday! Not like I'm doing a countdown or anything of that nature (ha), but I'm kinda excited. If you can't tell. ;) Having my birthday on New Years Eve has always been fun because my parents made it that way. I'm pretty lucky like that really! But I do have a fun little post I'm working on centering around how old I'll be (any guesses?), my goals for the new year, and a fun giveaway for a birthday surprise! See you tomorrow!

May all your wishes...

Yesterday was my best friend Sara's birthday! We've been besties since 8th grade and are going on 15 years of being friends....WOW! That's longer than I've been married, haha! To say we've had some good times is a huge understatement. I only get to see her a couple times a year (if that) so it's always so fun when we get to visit!

This is the birthday card I sent her...really simple and flat for mailing, but soft and soothing. Kinda like she is...the soothing part I mean. ;) I used the sentiment and dandelion from Dandelion Dreams by Skipping Stones Design. Super simple and really quick, but just enough during this busy holiday rush! Glad it's starting to get back to normal, ha!

I have a fun (at least I think) post I'll be sharing on Friday, which happens to be my birthday as well as New Year's Eve (fun!) so make sure you stop back! ;)

Happy Brrrthday!

Welcome to another fabulous Tuesday! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty exhausted from all the Christmas festivities! We had a blast though, and the kids enjoyed every minute of it!

This will be our last sketch for December from our super awesome sketch artist this month, Maile Belles! The sketches have all been so fun, simple and clean just like Maile's signature style. Here is sketch #57!

I pulled out the newly released set Brrrthday to create a simple, wintery birthday card. My friend Cammie's birthday was on Sunday (yep the day after Christmas!), and I wanted to do a rich and colorful card that played on the winter theme, but not Christmas. Brrrthday has some gorgeous snowflakes, a snow angel, an adorable penguin and a lot of fabulous sentiments. Perfect for birthday, thanks, thinking of you, etc. Love it!

Thanks snow much!

It's another fabulous Tuesday and we've got a great new sketch for you! We're joined by some great guests this month, and our Guest Sketch Artist this month is Maile Belles!

We have such a fun sketch to work with this week! I loved seeing the variations on this sketch from our talented DT and our guests! Here is sketch #56!

I paired this clean and simple sketch up with some crisp and clean colors from the current JUGS challenge!

Then I paired up the recently released Brrrthday, which the DT is showcasing today, to create this super simple but fun seasonal thanks card!

Sprayed a little glitter misty stuff over the stamped snowflakes and sentiment for that sparkling snow look. I just love these snowflakes, they are so gorgeous!

Dreamweavers Stencils!

I had a fabulous opportunity to have some awesome Dreamweavers instructors in my area come do a workshop at my house this past weekend. It was so fun learning new techniques and adding some great stencils and pastes to my collection!

Here are three of the cards we created this weekend!

Double Glitter Technique

Paste and FX

Paste and Glitter

I played around with the Double Glitter technique and created this one layer card with this adorable Santa! I'm linking up this card to the Dreamweavers challenge this week which is an open challenge using your stencils.

I can't wait to try out some more of my stencils and pastes, it's so much fun! Looking forward to a new challenge!

Happy Holidays & SSD Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop to celebrate the release of two new sets, Sentiment Frames #1 and Brrrthday! Today the DT and Guests of SSD will be featuring cards using Sentiment Frames #1. If you've just happened upon my blog today, make sure to start from the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have arrived here from Jennifer's blog.

Combined with the blog hop today, it's also Skipping Stones Sketch Tuesday which means we're showcasing another great creation from our Guest Sketch Artist this month, Maile Belles. We'd love for you to play along with the sketch and link your card at the Skipping Stones Blog. A free stamp set is up for grabs to a lucky winner that joins our sketch challenge!

Here is the super fun sketch we had this week, with lots of room for interpretation and plenty of white space!

I ended up flipping the sketch and created this card using Timeless Textures for the background sheet music, and Sentiment Frames #1 for the tag and sentiment.

One of the fun things with this little tag framer is that there is no right or wrong way to have your brackets go! I just loved how the "bottom" stamp fit right into my Top Note Die to create such a fun frame for the sentiment!

During our fun holiday blog hop, I have stamp set to giveaway! :) I have Christmas Swirls up for grabs, and even if you don't win it, you can purchase it on sale right now for $11.99! Simply leave me a comment telling me your favorite Christmas or holiday tradition, or well, anything you want to share today! ;) This contest will close on Thursday at midnight and a winner will be posted on Friday!

Your next stop on the hop is to Tammie!

Happy Holidays!

It's the "most wonderful time of the year," but the busiest time of all too isn't it?! I can't believe we are almost halfway through the month of December, let alone going into a whole new year! Eeek, that is just so crazy! Since it's been pretty busy here at the Phillips house with Wrestling and all the Christmas tidings, I haven't had a whole ton of crafty time. You all in the same boat with me? ;)

I do have a quickie layout to share today though. This was created when I did an article for MS Punch Around the Page punches and I loved the new paper they sent me a few samples of as well! It was so fun, quick and easy to punch a few snowflakes and add my pictures to this super simple layout. We always love to go look at the lights Downtown, but didn't make time for it last year. Hopefully we'll get to do that this year, but at least we have the memories and photos of years past!

Make sure to check in tomorrow as we'll be doing a blog hop to celebrate two new Skipping Stones Designs stamp releases, and I may just have a stamp set up for grabs! ;)

SSD #54

It's another fabulous Tuesday and we've got a great new sketch for you! We're joined by some great guests this month, and if you missed it yesterday take a look at the post I did here on the SSD blog!

Our Guest Sketch Artist this month is Maile Belles, and we have such a fun sketch to work with this week! I loved seeing the variations on this sketch from our talented DT and our guests!

I wanted to really play with those flourishes in the sketch so I stitched with some silver cord to tie in with the fun trim we got in our Winter Wonderland packets last month from Christopher Pines!

It's hard to tell in the picture, but the red is dry embossed with my Big Shot, and the stars and sentiment are from Christmas Swirls.

Love this fun sketch and I might just have to play again! I was crunched for time on this card last week because I went out of town so I'd love to see what else I can do with this fun sketch. You can all play along and have a chance to win a Free stamp set!

Marvy Snow Pen

Hey everyone! I have another article going up today at Craft Critique that you'll want to check out for some of your winter projects! It's all about adding SNOW to your projects, but not only that! :)

Hope Happens

Here is another card I shared in one of my articles!

I used Cancer Schmancer to make this serene hope card. The frame was made with the Punch Around the Pages punches and I tucked the vanilla square in under the tabs. It made the perfect frame for the beautiful butterfly!

Such a simple little card, but I love those colors and the softness of it!

CS: Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose, Prints Pack DSP
Ink: Sahara Sand, Regal Rose
Stamps: Cancer Schmancer
Misc: half back pearls, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Punch Around the Page punches

Talk about some cold weather!

This is the snow we got on Sunday and I thought it would be a good time to share some snowflake cards.

You may have seen them already if you saw my article at Craft Critique, but they each have peeks at a new set coming out this month!

Both of those sentiments are in this set which will be released 12/15 so you'll want to watch for it! There are some gorgeous snowflakes and a few wintery friends along with some fabby winter sentiments! I can't wait until you see it, so fun!
