Grunge + Garden Stamp Kiss

Another week has come and gone (seriously?!) and it's time for another Skipping Stones Design sketch Tuesday! This is our last sketch from our talented Guest Sketch Artist, Karen Giron, but we've had so much fun with them!

This week we're using another of her favorite Sweet Sunday sketches:

The DT is using the newly released Grunge, and I've paired it up with the perfect set to do "kissing" Garden Stamp Kiss. This set is designed to be used with background stamps so it's perfect to combine with Grunge!

Did you know that SSD has a weekly sketch challenge and that YOU can participate? If you are a winner you get 50% off a stamp set of your choice! How is that for cool?! So make sure you take a look and play along, I'd love to see your take on this fun sketch!

PS - Skipping Stones Design is doing a giveaway today at the Paper Crafts Facebook Page...so go check it out, and good luck! You must like the PC FB Page and then comment on THIS PHOTO for your chance to win!

CS: Very Vanilla, Marina Mist,
Ink: Regal Rose, Marina Mist

Your Friendship...

Well after two rainy days I thought it would be fun to do a snowy card since I know that's what we'll be expecting here soon!

Plus, this gives me a great way to show you my newest thing to play with (Dreamweavers Stencils) and a sneak peek at a set being released next month by Skipping Stones Design!

I was lucky enough to win two stencils during the Dreamweavers hop, and my fabby SSD DT member Wendy Jordan is doing a giveaway if you show off some of your projects with your stencils. So naturally I need to play along!

I'm still learning how to use these awesome stencils so I started off simple this time, but yes more play time is coming with these. ;) I used some of the Whitewash Coredinations cardstock, ran the stencil through my Big Shot, and then sanded away to reveal the color and the raised dry embossing.

See that cute snowman and sentiment? You may remeber seeing this set, Sassy Snow, around February when SSD sold a few of them during our Hop(e) for Haiti. I'm so excited that it will be officially released next month!

Here's a close up of the stencil! Once I had it all sanded away I cut up my piece into separate strips and then added some glitter to the raised images. And can you see something that looks a little like snow? I've used my Snow Pen with this set before as well, but hang tight and I'll tell you more about it closer to December. ;) *wink, wink

Thinking of You

Sneaking in on the last day for the Embellish challenge! Felt and some fun colors....

Really simple and grr wish I had a better picture, but we're losing daylight fast and I still haven't found a replacement bulb for my light tent. ;)

Cut the felt flowers with my Big Shot and added some ribbon scraps for some petals. A little sentiment in the corner...and easy as that it was done.

Stamps: Always Here

SSD Sketch Tuesday #47!

It's Tuesday and you know that means another Skipping Stones Design Sketch Tuesday post! I am loving the sketches from our Guest Sketch Artist Karen, and this week she has another favorite Sweet Sunday sketch to share with us!

Last Friday, both Cancer Schmancer and Grunge released and the DT has been using and loving both sets! We all have used Grunge in some fun and interesting ways today, so you definitely want to check everyone out at the Skipping Stones Design blog!

For my card, I combined Grunge with Tough Guy and love the clean and simple look acheived for this masculine card.

I stamped the sentiments first (Dad from Tough Guy) and then stamping off once I was able to stamp the tools in a softer shade to overlap the sentiment. Pairing it up with the woodgrain stamp from Grunge completed the guy look! Who says guy cards can't have buttons and ribbon?!

CS: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, Kraft DSP: SU Prints Pack
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi
Stamps: Grunge and Tough Guy - Skipping Stones Design
Misc: Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, corduroy button, hemp, circle cutter

Friends Give Color....

My first time playing with the Color Throwdown challenge! I loved these colors and they were so fun to work with! Thanks for the awesome inspiration!

I used an old Sweet Sunday sketch for this layout, and I'm so happy with how it all came together for a pretty clean and simple card. I haven't ordered any of the new In Colors yet, so I had to substitute with Real Red, and Certainly Celery for my card.

The main flower imagess are from Dandelion Dreams and then I stamped off once in chocolate ink to then stamp the woodgrain from Grunge over the flowers. The sentiment is from Healing Wings and one I thought fit nicely with this colorful card!

Here is a close up of the main image. Love these flowers and the woodgrain stamped over it!

So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Certainly Celery
Ink: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Certainly Celery
Stamps: Dandelion Dreams, Grunge and Healing Wings
Misc: Circle cutter

I Believe in You

I've always loved the Tuesday Trigger challenges from the Moxie Fab blog, and this week I finally participated!

Here is the inspiration photo from the Languish in Luxiourous challenge. The flowers in the blue vase instantly reminded me of the flower vase image in the newly released Cancer Schmancer from Skipping Stones Design.

Using the background from Timeless Textures I was able to recreate the look of the wallpaper, and then stamped the vase image onto a simple white frame. The kraft cardstock was a tie in to the wood in the photo, and the satin ribbon and bling helped to finished it off. The sentiment is also from Cancer Schmancer, and I love that this card could really go to anyone that needs a little encouragement.

PS - During the month of October SSD is donating $4 to the Komen foundation for EVERY Cancer Schmancer set sold!

CS: Kraft, White
Ink: Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise
Stamps: Cancer Schmancer and Timeless Textures
Misc: Cricut Storybook cartridge, pink bling, satin ribbon

Happy Birthday Sis!

Happy birthday to my youngest sister, Shae!

This is the card I made for her using the newest set released by Skipping Stones Design called Grunge!

I love this color combo and had to do it as soon as I saw those distressed scallops! Also, seriously loving the paint splatters in this set and the "grunged" up font for the sentiments!

You are in the right place if you came from Karen's blog, but if you just stumbled onto my blog today, you can start at the beginning at Skipping Stones Design.

We're using a sketch from our Guest Sketch Artist this month, Karen Giron, and her Sweet Sunday Sketches. Check out SSD sketch #46!

And here is my card inspired by the sketch! I love the images in Cancer Schmancer and it is so fun to stamp with! I think this card could be used for anyone going through a rough time or anyone that needs a little pick me up!

There are so many wonderful ideas along the hop, and your next stop is to the fabulous Jennifer!

Here is the master list in case there are any breaks in the hop order. Happy hopping!

Boo Treat Set!

It's time for another SSD sketch Tuesday! It's the beginning of a new month so we have new guests! My post yesterday on the Skipping Stones Design blog introduces you to our guests, and we are so excited to have Karen Giron as our Guest Sketch Artist this month! Karen is the creative genius behind her Sweet Sunday sketch challenges so she's picked her favorite sketches for us to use this month!

This week the DT is using Halloweenie and made some treats to go along with our cards! Here is our sketch this week, #45:

And here is my card and treat item! Can you believe Ghost Peeps?! I was so excited to find them and they match perfectly with this little stamped ghost from Halloweenie!

For the candy corns I wanted to make them stand out more, so after I colored them in with my Copics I used the Colorless Blender to make polka dots on the yellow, and stripes in the orange. I am so in love with that cute and simple pattern!

Here is a close-up of those candy corns along with the cute treat bag. I cut the top at three inches and scored it at 1.5 and stapled it to the bag top. I layered the white candy corn strip over completely hiding the staples. It makes such a cute and simple treat bag that you could easily mass produce for the kiddos!

CS: Basic Black, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Momento Black
Stamps: Halloweenie
Misc: Copics, stapler, black grosgrain ribbon, circle cutter

More C2P September Layouts!

Sharing my last two layouts created with the September Commit 2 Paper kit! I also have a peek at the October kit for you, too!

A couple years ago we went to Oregon and did Thanksgiving with my younger sis Laci. They've since moved to Florida, but it was so fun and the kids loved breaking the wishbone!

And the reason Brady had such super short hair in the above picture...he tried to give himself a mohawk on Halloween day, but did it in reverse. We ended up shaving his whole head, which will be another layout for sure because that was so hilarious!

And last, here is the peek for October's kit! I spent the whole weekend re-decorating so I haven't had a chance to make any layouts with this kit yet, but I know it's going to be fun!

Happy WCMD!

Happy World Card Making Day! I put together a quick list with links over at Craft Critique so if you want to learn more about this holiday I highlighted a lot of fun things! Our Editor in Chief Sarah Moore added in some fun cards, and there are some great links for companies offering discounts!

And today, so much more fun....I am joining my lovely Stamp Tramps, the Skipping Stones Design DT, in a blog hop to celebrate our love of paper crafting and to share some fun cards! Plus, there may be some hidden prizes along the hop so be sure to leave a comment on each blog! :) You should have made your way here from Amy's blog and if so then you are on the right track! If you just popped in today make sure you go to the beginning at SSD!

For my card today I combined just a few SSD sets!

Timeless Textures and Dandelion Dreams for the background as well as the stamping over the acetate, and the sentiment is from Healing Wings. All of the black except the sentiment is embossed....love it! This color combo also totally makes me happy!

You're next stop along the hop is to Brenda, and you are in for a treat with what she has to share! Happy WCMD and happy stamping!

From Screen 2 Scrap - Guest Designer!

This month I am so honored to be a Guest Designer over at From Screen 2 Scrap! S2S is a challenge blog for layouts using movie posters for inspiration! The lovely and talented Shazza makes it such a friendly blog and the posters always have a fun twist to them for added criteria.

Here is the poster for October (fitting with the pinks for this month, right?):

My Fair Lady

Added criteria for an extra 6 points:

1. Shades of pink = 1 pt

2. Blue title = 2 pts

3. A handmade Hat = 3 pts

Here is my layout with the criteria, and the inspiration behind the layout!

Going with the "fair lady" concept, this is my Gwynie girl. My own little fair lady, that is the fairest in the land. ;) The bow is mimicing the one in the poster, and the buttons, pearls and lace just seemed so vintage and nostalgic grouped together like that like in the poster. Title, pinks, and hats - check!

The hats are from Skipping Stones Design and are from the Well Behaved stamp set. I stamped them on cardstock in white ink, and then cut them out and added the pearls. Too fun!

I have a prize up for grabs and I get to choose the winner! So take a look over at their blog to the picture of my prize pack and submit your layout, I'd love to see it!
