Hi everyone,

I just wanted to pop in quick and thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I really appreciate it. My cousin Whitney will be greatly missed, but we know she is in a better place and although that doesn't make it better, it does help ease the pain. Whitney was only 21, but was a wonderful young woman.

They aren't doing the funeral until Tuesday to try and get the other kids healed enough to attend. They are planning on cremating her afterwards as that was her wish and they want to honor that, but it will solely be a family affair for the five of them. Whitney spent time in Australia for a summer when she was a teenager and always said she wanted her ashes spread on the Great Barrier Reef. In a year or two the family will take a trip to honor that request.

I miss my kids and my husband horribly and I know they need me right now, so I'll actually be flying back to SLC tomorrow (Friday) morning. I know that I needed to be here for the last two days, but now my focus is on my family and making sure my kids know how special they are to me, and try to get them back to normal. Everyone here understands that we won't be able to come back for the funeral, but they know why so it's alright. Also, my friends husbands memorial service will be Saturday afternoon. He was cremated today and so Saturday will be a celebration of his life so Jake and I will need to be there for that.

My cousin Thomas was on the passenger side of the SUV and Whitney was in the front passenger seat. They received the blunt of the roll-over, but Thomas (16) is recovering more quickly than they even expected. He is still in the ICU and probably will be for another day or two, but they are very impressed with him. The biggest concern with him is he was basically scalped from the gash on his head so he received several stiches on his head and was in a neck brace for a couple days. He has pins in his wrist and will have problems with his right side for a while, including his legs. He looks really beat up, but is a fighter.

Merritt (13) received several cuts and bruises and broke her leg and foot in two places. Her foot will need skin grafts as it was down to tendons on the top of her foot. Merritt is an elite dancer so they have a podiatrist who is taking every precaution and is doing extra steps to ensure she'll be able to dance again. She had a surgery today to place a machine called a wound vac on her foot to help stimulate tissue growth. They'll need to keep doing this for at least two weeks or so before they can do the grafts.

Lauren (19) was driving and received the least amount of damage. Her one leg is pretty banged up and one of her fingers has several stiches, and both will just need some time to heal. Her arm received horrible road rash and had to be scrubbed and will also take awhile to heal. She was released from the hospital today. Mentally she is in denial and is coping as she only knows how to. The family will get individual counseling as well as family counseling. Physically, Lauren will heal and will carry some scars, but emotionally and mentally she has a long road to travel.

As for myself...I'm hanging in there. I will take my time later to have a really good cry and a little breakdown, but only when I am back home with Jake. From the moment I got the call until this very minute typing I haven't had a chance to really greive yet. Its been tearing up here and there (and a quick cry in the shower Wednesday morning), but I know I've had to be strong for my family. Tomorrow evening when its just Jake and I, I will take the time to mourn my cousin. I will cry for her, for my grandparents that lost a granddaughter, for my parents and aunts and uncles that lost a neice, for my cousins who also lost a cousin, for my cousins that lost their sister, and for my aunt and uncle who lost their daughter.

All of the children were wearing the seat belts.

Sad News...

I was going to share a card today, but I received some devastating news last night from one of my closest girlfriends. As I snuggled in my husbands arms, and he held me as I cried, I felt almost guilty because my dear friend will never experience that with her sweet husband again. I cannot imagine my life without Jake and I can't fathom what she is going through right now. So if I can offer a word of advice today, instead of a card, it would be this - Don't let one day go by without telling your loved ones how much they mean to you. Hold them tight and don't let go...

Please excuse my blogging absence if I go MIA for a little while, but you will know why and I'm sure you will all understand. If you have taken a moment to read this, please take care and make sure your friends and family know how much you love them. I appreciate every single one of you that takes a few minutes out of your day to read my little blog-o.

ETA: More horrible news... I just received word at 6:30 am that my beautiful cousin Whitney was killed in a car accident last night. My other two cousins (her younger siblings) are in critical condition and desperately need all the prayers and positive thoughts you can send their way. Please, please, please don't forget my advice. Trying to wrap my head around all of this...
Take Care,

Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop!

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design’s Blog DT Blog Hop to celebrate the release of two new stamp sets, Friendly Fruit and Timeless Textures. If you just happened upon my blog today, you’ll want to go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have arrived from Peggy's blog.

Combined with the blog hop today, it's also Skipping Stones Sketch Tuesday which means the Design Team is showcasing another great creation from Kim Kesti. We'd love for you to play along with the sketch. Just remember to use the keywords SSD035 if you are uploading to any online galleries or link your card at the Skipping Stones Blog. We'll be looking soon for Guest Designers and a DT call soon will be going out so you never know.... ;)

Here is our last sketch from Kim, its been so fun using her sketches this month!

I wanted to use the new set Friendly Fruit to make a summery card! Doesn't this remind you of a nice tall glass of lemonade? Which one is if for you - Pink or Yellow Lemonade? I love both so had to toss both in there and have some fun colors pop out! I added some Iridiscent Ice to the block of lemons to add even more summery fun with glitter! Isn't that a cute sentiment?

I'll have another card tomorrow showing off Timeless Textures! Your next stop on the hop is to Dina! Also, don't forget about the PMS Sale going on right now!

Surrender to the wind....

Hmmm, maybe I should take that title as a suggestion? ;) It's been a crazy whirl-wind time around here that's for sure! My Mom said she knows when things get busy at my house - I don't blog! LOL! So true though! I'll spare you all the details, but it has just been super busy.

I whipped up a little card the other night that is very CAS (clean and simple), but I love those kind of cards! I paired the bird image from Garden Stamp Kiss with a sentiment from Whispering Wings, both from Skipping Stones Design . The sentiment grounds the bird, as well as pairs well with the bird image and the wind portion of the sentiment.

Hope Monday is treating you all well! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for the SSD Blog Hop and the release of two new stamp sets!

CS: Crumb Cake

Baby News & More C2P Layouts!

Not my baby news (that ship has sailed my friends, we are blissfully and completely happy with our little family), but my cute friend Stephanie had her baby girl on Thursday! I got a call from her about an hour and a half after she delivered and it was so fun the hear the story when I called her back! She and baby are doing awesome and big sis Bailey was so excited to have her new baby sister. The kids thought little Payten was absolutely adorable and I couldn't agree more! She was so wide awake almost the whole time we were visiting, but started to get a little tired once we finally pulled out the camera, haha. So congrats to Steph and John on the baby making! (As Jake told them, lol!)

Anyway, here are my last two layouts from the July C2P kit! You should be able to see all of the DT layouts in the Inspiration Squad Gallery today!

Hope your weekend is super! We have sooooo much going on for the next little while (what's new though right?!), but I love this time of year! I am realllllly hoping to get our Family Blog updated Sunday since we have been doing so much, but we'll see how that goes!

Happy 4th!

So this year I didn't get any pics of our typical 4th of July. Normally we do the parade in the morning, visit the car show in the afternoon, and then BBQ and watch fireworks and then do some sparklers, etc. This year we went on a camping trip so I didn't get our normal shots, bummer. But, I know the kids will remember this year and I still have other pics (lake, camping, etc.) that I can scrapbook!

This is a photo from two summers ago of the kids and I waiting for the fireworks to start. It cracks me up how different all of us look, ha! I used the July Commit 2 Paper kit (all DT layouts on the site on the 16th!), some Nashville Ribbon Wraps ribbon (its papery!), and some buttons to complete this layout.

I also did this layout with the Soul Scrappers Theme Challenge 13 in mind, but missed the deadline, lol. Either way it was fun to do a red/green page with one other color (blue) and make it not Christmas related! This also is a challenge in the 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges book - #18. Go fishing for complements (complementary colors). I've updated my list so you can see all the challenges and the ones I've completed (with layouts) HERE.

Forget about love...

Hi everyone! It's Tuesday and that means its time for another SSD Sketch Challenge with the Stamp Tramps of Skipping Stones Design!

Here is the next sketch for this month from the amazing Kim Kesti!

My inspiration for this card came from this picture. I knew I wanted to make a chocolate in a bag with that half circle, but didn't know how to go about "decorating" my chocolate so it didn't look like just a half circle of cardstock in a bag! ;)

I reversed the colors (so it would be more chocolate looking) and used a Versamark pen to make "chocolate drizzles" and embossed those with white ep. I had some of these clear baggies left over from some birthday party or another and it was a perfect fit! I tied it with some hemp, and then cut off the extra from the top of the bag.

I took the chocolates from Chocolate #1 to make the background on the green patterned paper, and the sentiment is from Chocolate #2. For the dots and the exclamation point I used a new set coming out later this month. I love being able to mix and match my stamp sets! :)

Be sure to check out the other "Stamp Tramps" and our guest sketch artist to see what they've come up with!

Have a Beautiful Birthday

I feel so lucky to be writing articles for Craft Critique, and thought I would share two cards today that I created while writing two product reviews.

This first card was for my Xyron Creatopia review, and I used the set Dandelion Dreams from Skipping Stones Design. I sent this sweet little card to my awesome Momma last month. I've been doing a Card of the Month for her just so I can say I sent her a card every month this year. ;)

This next card was created while I was reviewing some Just Imagine Crafts products. This uses the sentiment from Healing Wings also by Skipping Stones Design.

So, any products you've thought about purchasing but weren't sure if it was worth it?! Leave me a comment and I'll use that list when I submit my topics for next month! **Anything goes!** I dabbled in almost all types of crafting so if there is a product you want to know more about let me know!

Love You

Another layout made with the July C2P kit! The colors matched these shirts my kiddos got from my grandparents from Yellowstone. We actually vacationed there two weeks after they got these shirts, haha.

Love all of these flowers and the buttons included in this kit! The papers are all so bright with some great prints so I know I'll be using them for both Gwyn and Brady's pages! I mentioned on Monday I was looking forward to digging into this kit this weekend and it is definitely on the agenda!

So, anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? My kiddos are spending the weekend with Jake's Grandma, and we'll be golfing it up with the work crew. We're having a Golf Scramble (3rd annual I think?) for work. Jake is golfing in it, and since I'm in HR (or Organizational Development as we call it, lol) I'll be "working" during the scramble. You know, riding around in golf carts delivering goodie bags and taking pictures...such hard work, right? ;) Seriously though, I know we will be beat by the time all is said and done, but it's guaranteed to be a blast! Hope you all have some great plans lined up! Oh and, I'll definitely be digging into this kit some more! ;)

Simply Scrappin Kit

As promised, here is the layout I did for Gwynie from our trip to Bear Lake last summer. I used one of the Scrappin kits from Stampin Up for this layout. I LOVE the bright colors and they just seemed to work perfectly with her cute polka dot bikini!

And one other layout created with this kit from one of Gwynie's birthday parties two years ago (yes still working on some leftover photos, and yes same swim suit - my kids take their time growing, haha!). The little chipboard pieces are American Crafts and I picked them up last year at the scrapbook expo. A whole little can full for only a $1 - it was a good buy. ;)

Making this quick today since there is a whole ton of stuff just calling my name! Hope your day is fabulous!

July C2P Pages!

I used the July Commit 2 Paper kit for these pics from Bear Lake last year. LOVE these bright colors for summery beach pages! This layout is part of the sneak peek you got on Monday!
To make the sun I cut out a circle and then free hand cut triangles and then embossed the pieces. I love the printed flowers at the bottom, but wanted to make them pop a little more and fit with the sun I made. So I added a few buttons, felt pieces, and a chipboard piece to give them some dimension. I also loved the big open blue strip on the side and thought it was perfect for my title - love it!

Also love the distressing on the edges of these papers! I played on that with the paint at the bottom to add to the distressed look and gave a base for my journaling. Not much to say about this layout, but I love the simplicity of it! A few papers, pictures, and chipboard and its all done! ;)

I also did a layout for Gwynie with some Bear Lake pictures that I'll save for tomorrow!

1 Martini, 2 Martini...

Hi everyone! It's Tuesday and that means its time for another SSD Sketch Challenge with the Stamp Tramps of Skipping Stones Design!

It's the beginning of a new month so its time to reveal our new Guest Sketch Artist for July! We are so excited to have the talented Kim Kesti join us this month! Here is Kim's first sketch!

And here is my take on the sketch! I love this sentiment in Chic Martini - "1 Martini, 2 Martini, 3 Martini, FLOOR!" and thought it was great to use with the martini glasses tipping in each square! Plus I had to make it all summery colors! I added clear rhinestones to each olive and then colored over them with my Copics. Such a fun way to add a little bling!

Be sure to check out the other "Stamp Tramps" and our guest sketch artist to see what they've come up with!

Blog Candy WINNER!!

Sorry for the delay everyone! We left for a Red-Neck, White and Blue camping trip (seriously hilarious, fun trip - love our work peeps!) over the holiday weekend and I was so busy getting ready that I completed spaced posting a winner! So I decided to include all comments (even left after the 30th because I'm a dork) for last weeks blog hop for the release of Chocolate Vol 2 and Fangs or Fur. Here is the winner of the Chic Martini stamp set!

Sarah said...
I LOVe the way you added the ribbon on the Edward/Bella card! I have a hard time deciding which team I'm on...but I love the sentiment on one of the stamps that says Team Edward...until Jacob takes off his shirt! LOL Great job on both cards!

July C2P Kit!

Um hello, where did June go? And how did it already get to be past July 1st so quickly?! I know one thing for sure though, I'll definitely be digging into this kit this weekend!

Here is a look at the July Commit 2 Paper kit, and a sneak peek of a layout I did when I first got my kit. Definitely screams summer right?! ;)

I'll be back with the full layout and a few more later this week!
