1-10 Challenge!

Ok one more post for today!

Amy, the owner of Commit 2 Paper, (and someone I call a fabulous friend!) did a scraplift of my Things I Love layout and has issued a challenge! Here is the challenge taken from Amy's post:

Your theme challenge, should you use to accept it....

Spring has sprung, that means we are going to see growth everywhere. That said, use the word GROW or some variation in the title of your layout and make sure that your layout illustrates growth in some way, shape or form.

The twist: this is a 1-10 challenge. You must you the elements listed below to create your layout using the specified number next to each element. You may use more than the required number if you like but this will not give you extra bonus points.

*2 stamps

*3 brads

*4 different cardstocks (dont need to use the whole sheet)

*5 different patterned papers (dont need to use the whole sheet)

*6 staples

*7 eyelets

*8 buttons

*9 bling (can be replaced with 9 different dots of stickles or something else that is sparkly)

*10 inches of thread or ribbon

For all the details on how/where to post your layout and to see Amy's gorgeous layout (and yes there is a PRIZE from Amy!), please take a look at Amy's post here. If you think it can't be done, well I promise you it can! ;) Amy issued some 1-10 challenges awhile back, and you can see my two layouts here! (scroll to the bottom of the first post)

I can't wait to see what you all create, and I'll be adding this to my list of layouts to tackle tomorrow for National Scrapbooking Day!

Blog Candy, Crafty Goals Update & Random Stuff!

Happy Friday everyone! Whew! This week has seemed really long and busy, but fun you know? I have some "random" things I wanted to cover today so stick with me until the end, ok?! There might be fun news down there...just sayin'!

First off, today is my younger sister Laci's birthday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LACI!!!!! I'm the oldest and Lace is two years younger than me. I have two other siblings as well - Kyle who 5 years younger and Shae who is 6 years younger. We grew up fighting like crazy as all sisters do, but I am so grateful and thankful that she is my sista! We have had to funnest times, the best inside jokes (JOEY!), and so many awesome memories stored up even though we live so far apart. Laci finally (ha!) set up her own crafty blog - Laci Can Craft and I'm so excited she is doing it! On the left side I have my family blogs linked so you can see my sistas and momma in action. Laci, your card is in the mail. ;) For reals I promise it went out this morning, or will once Jake runs to the post office for me, ha! (And a card for you too Mom and Shae!)

Ok next, I have put up a little poll in my sidebar. I have been thinking about it for a little while and noticed some blogging friends do it recently so I thought no time like now for it! I am completely giddy to have some rockin followers and thought I would see what else I could do on my little blog-o. I never imagined I would love blogging as much as I do! I remember totally debating ever starting a craft blog, but decided why not and did it. I'm so glad I did! Anyway, I find myself wondering what else or more you would like to see! You can check as many options as you want also and feel free to leave your "Other" suggestions on this post.

Next, tomorrow is NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY! I'm planning on diving into my Commit 2 Paper May kit, which you can see in the photo I took below. Its also up on the website now so you can order yours! You'll be able to see the full IS Gallery reveal around the 15th of the month. I'll also be playing with some of the Past Kits I ordered during their HUGE SALE! Which, btw is still going on...until tonight! So, if I were you, I'd order a few since they are only $10 per kit!!

Now, because it has been such a crazy week I didn't have a chance to post my winner for the Create It Green blog hop! The winner of the cute butterfly and flower cutouts is......

Congrats BillieJo! Please send me your mailing info to kandipants21 [at] gmail [dot] com and I'll get that out to you! Also, any winners (including past/future) announced on my blog have 7 days to claim their prizes, so if it doesn't get claimed I will re-draw.

And last, remember in this post when I set myself some goals for the year? One is to use every image in a stamp set, and another is to make 210 projects in 2010.

Here's where I'm at so far! I have crossed off a few sets (yes exactly three) as complete for using every image, and I have a few sets that I only need to use a sentiment or something like that. I still have a ways to go, but its been a fun challenge! I know I've mentioned that I'm a list maker, but I don't think I've elaborated how extreme I can be, haha! I have a spreadsheet that I use to keep track of everything. Here's a glimpse ;)

There are several tabs at the bottom of my sheet as well, and one of them tracks the projects. Because I did a set of 20 cards for a friend, DT assignments, and the board book (I counted each page), my numbers for this month were really high. So since January up to the end of this month, I have done 137 projects! This means I only have 73 more! So even if I only make 10 projects a month for the rest of the year I'll still meet my goal.

Ok, all that other stuff is done, now the fun part! Thanks for reading through it all, or skimming to get to the bottom, he! As stated before, the claim procedure for blog prizes is within 7 days. If you don't claim it, its up for grabs again! So....I still have an unreleased Skipping Stones Design stamp set called Brrrthday to give away! Here's the deal - leave a comment on this post about whatever you like, and I'll choose a winner and post it by May 6th which is when my poll closes.

Good luck, and again HAPPY FRIDAY!

EcoGreen Crafts Board Book!

So I uploaded all my pictures of the board book I did for my review of EcoGreen Crafts for Craft Critique the other day, but I never finished my post! I decided I would just post it as is so there is at least something new for you all today. ;)

This isn't in any order, just very random, but I really wanted to just get it posted! There are the double page spreads so you can see how it is in my book, and then the single pages for more detailed shots. Every page uses the ECG products, whether its paints, inks, glintz, etc.

Last January we visited my family in Florida (it was freezing with record lows!), but we still wanted to go to the beach. Brady of couse "fell in" the ocean (ha!) but we had a blast, and are looking forward to seeing them again in warmer weather and hopefully sometime soon! Enjoy!

I Still Love YOU!

Hey everyone! Today is my LAST DT CHALLENGE with Cricutters Anonymous! It has been a fun 6 months, but I decided to step down so someone else could have a fabulous opportunity! These challenges have been fun and have certainly made me think a lot more! ;)

The challenge this week is #35 - Tags, Bags and Boxes - Make a tag, bag or box, it doesn't have to come from the TBB cartridge, any cartridge will work!

So of course I have to interpret or bend the rules in my own way, so I made a card with a bunch of tags on it! I got this set and the paper as part of my freebie stuff from Sale-A-Bration, so I wanted to put them together in one fun card! Sure, its past V-day and all that, but I can still give this to Jake anytime I want. ;)

I used George and Doodlecharms to cut a few different tags. One fun note - the little stripey heart is the heart out of the circle tag! When its double sided paper you can always used the cut outs on your project to show another side!

Well, it has been a blast doing these challenges, and hopefully I won't be a stranger to them! Now, the DT Call ends on April 30th so if you ever wanted to be on a Design Team, then go for it! Good luck to those of you that apply!

And here is my card! I think this is the first time ever that I've stayed so close to the sketch, wow!

I love that sentiment and was glad I finally broke it out for this humorous card! Hi everyone! Today is my last day to post on the Your Memories Here DT blog as the Guest Designer for April. It has been so much fun and I love the products so much that I'm sad it has to end! Thank you Kristina and the YMH DT for having me this month!

Well, I was so in love with the butterflies I cut out from the SEI Mimosa Pack that I used on my card last week, that I decided I better make a layout as well! Again, it pairs beautifully with the Sweet & Sassy Primas, and the Island Blossom dew drops so it was super easy to layer everything on to make a really quick and simple page!

The paper is gorgeous enough on its own so I love the style and look that it gives my page! I also love how well each side coordinates with the reverse so you really get a great look even with just one sheet!

Your Memories Here has lots of great paper packs so make sure you check them out!

Past C2P Kits

Commit 2 Paper is still having a huge sale on all 2008 and 2009 kits! It goes until the end of this month so you still have a few days to take advantage of this stellar deal! I ordered four kits myself and had a blast tearing right into them this past weekend!

Pssst - I also got my May kit this weekend and have already done 3 layouts with it! I think you'll really like it! :)

Here is a layout created with the January 09 kit, which has papers from Bo Bunny, and some gorgeous flowers and chipboard pieces from Prima! I loved the blue swirls and thought they matched well with Gwynie's tumbling costume. I'm on this grid like, collage-y sort of look lately, but it works for me. ;)

These are pieces cut out from the coordinating papers you get with the kit, and the prima flowers and chipboard piece.

This is a layout created with the July 2008 kit, which ironically is the kit one month after these pics were taken. Its the Chicken Soup collection by Piggy Tales. This page took maybe 20 minutes to do, and that is probably because I kept moving things around before adhering it to the page. I'm a total "simple scrapper", haha, but I love the gratification of making something "cute" without a lot of effort or time spent. Maybe that makes me a lazy scrapper? ;) Either way, I like how this came together, and I will probably repeat this on future layouts.

Supplies - All supplies C2P January 09 kit unless otherwise noted
Misc: black brads, blue organza ribbon, EK Success embossed curve border punch

Play Ball
Supplies - All supplies C2P July 08 kit unless otherwise noted
Misc: Flower Layers Die, white brads

Craft Critique Earth Day Blog Carnival!

Make sure you check out all the cool Earth Day projects at Craft Critique today for the blog carnival! There are so many inspiring ideas there and are all GREEN! Love it!

CIG Earth Day Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad you could join us for our special blog hop! Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, so what better way to celebrate it than with a Create It Green Blog Hop?!

Earth Day Blog Hop

You should have arrived from Alexa's blog. If you just happened onto my blog and didn't realize a blog hop was taking place, you can go back to Create it Green and start the hop. You won't want to miss all the Earth Day Inspiration or the amazing prizes from our generous sponsors! Make sure you leave a comment on each blog on the hop since winners will be drawn from the comments!!

We had some awesome companies donate some digi images, as well as some amazing recycled paper from Greenfield Paper Company! I choose to use the different types of paper Greenfield sent to create a fun note card set!

My Mom has such a green thumb that I know she'd be so happy to "plant" these cards, that is if she actually takes it apart! I have a feeling she wouldn't want to, ha! I used the Hemp Paper as the base, and the cuts are from the Handmade Plantable Seed Paper! So really, you can send a bouquet of flowers in a simple envelope! ;)

I wanted to highlight the paper on these cards. Sometimes I get so caught up in all the little extras I can add to a card that I forget my first love - paper and color! So these were fun to keep simple and focus on the cool paper!

This blog hop will run from today, April 22nd until Sunday, April 26th, midnight PST. We will be drawing for winners on April 27. (I am only participating today, but there are other blogs going all four days!)

So, how about a prize?! In addition to sponsor prizes, I have some blog candy! I cut out a bunch of flowers and butterflies for one lucky winner! Please leave a comment and become a follower, and I will draw a random winner after the hop is over! Good luck!

Your next stop on the hop is Deanne!

Clumsy Layout

As promised, here is the other layout I did for my book review for Craft Critique. This was for Challenge #38 - Play favorites or explore unique qualities.

If you happened to read the article, then you know the story and background behind this layout. I have two younger sisters, and although we are totally opposite in almost every way, we are all pretty clumsy!

I decided to use this challenge to document this trait and to finally scrapbook a picture I took 4 years ago!

The journaling reads:

Three sisters. Totally opposites. Except for one thing. We are totally clumsy, thanks to our darling, but accident prone Mom. Walking around the Oregon Coast we should have known someone was bound to get hurt. Little did we know it would be all three of us, and within minutes of each other. Shae fell and bruised her leg. I slipped and cut my toe. Laci tripped and got a scratch and a bruise. Poor Dad just shook his head and chuckled...

For the layout, I used some EcoGreen Crafts paint to add a distressed look to the background. The tags and papers are all from the My Minds Eye Breaking Free collection, and sanded some black Thickers for another distressed look.

I also used this cool transparency in the collection to go over my photo.

I love how this came out, and I am still having tons of fun using these challenges in my pages. I have a few ideas lined up and things jotted down, so now I just need the time to do them! ;)

Instant Human...just add coffee!

Happy Tuesday! It's time for another SSD Sketch Challenge Tuesday with the Stamp Tramps of Skipping Stones Design! This week was a really fun sketch challenge because we were challenged to make a shaped card!

Challenge #21

I pulled out my trusty Gypsy, and designed this coffee cup from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge! It was so fun adding little details and using the stamps from Coffee Vol #1!

Here's a view of the front:

And the inside! No coffee cup is complete without a little coffee in it, right?! ;) Yummm Starbucks! I am craving a White Chocolate Mocha (and their perfect oatmeal with all three toppings, he!) right now. Can someone deliver?!

The front sentiment says "Instant human just add coffee*" and the little asterick was added to the side to match the inside sentiment "*They should just call it crack", ha!

Thank You So Much!

Hey everyone! It's my turn to post on the Your Memories Here DT blog as the Guest Designer for April! I can't even tell you how much I've felt the need to step up my game when I see the posts the DT does! Wow! Amazing projects!

I've shown a scrapbook page and a set of note cards so far, but I wanted to share a simple and fun card today. The shimmery paper is in the SEI Mimosa Pack, and I love how vibrant the color is! It pairs beautifully with the Sweet & Sassy Primas, and the Island Blossom dew drops like I've used here. This card has me thinking green and Spring, how about you?!

10 Things I Love Layout

**My article for a review of EcoGreen Crafts is up at Craft Critique today!!** THERE IS ALSO A GIVEAWAY! EcoGreen Crafts is giving two of our readers 10 assorted colors of their Eco-Friendly Acrylic Paint! Leave a comment on the post at Craft Critique, and winners will be selected on Earth Day, April 21, 2010.

I recently reviewed the book 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges for Craft Critique. You can read my full review HERE!

In the article I talk about two challenges I did. I'll share the first one I did on Wednesday, but I wanted to show you the one I did for Challenge #26 - Incorporate product packaging on your layout.

I used this same photo in my article, but it shows my supplies out and ready. I used the teal cardboard piece the green Prima flower (from the April C2p kit now you know where that second flower went, ha!) came in for my packaging part of the challenge!

Here is the finished layout. You would never know that was product packaging would you?! I was so excited by it all, that now I'm going to be scrutinizing the packaging for things I buy to see if I can re-use it!

These were taken on Gwynie's 10th birthday last summer. It was also Father's Day that same day, haha! Since she was 10 I used some stickers and the journaling tag to highlight that. All the papers, the stickers, etc. are from Bo Bunny's Persuasion collection. The only extra things I added were the pewter heart brads, the pink corduroy button, staples, Prima flower, and the tag.

Here is a close up of the journaling tab along with the packaging. Pretty nifty right?

The journaling on the side reads:
I can't believe you are 10 years old today! It seems as if time is racing by, and I am desperately trying to hold on! You are such an incredible daughter and an amazing big sister to Brady. You fill our life with laughter and I love you more and more each day. June 21, 2009
BTW - This weekend was State Wrestling for Freestyle and Folkstyle. Brady placed in both styles, and in his first year! Out of all the kids there in his weight, in the state, he place 6th in Folkstyle, and 4th in Freestyle! We are proud parents right now but more importantly it was a blast for him, and now he's kinda bummed he has to wait until the Summer Games to compete again! ;)
