29 Things Before I'm 30.....and a giveaway!

**STAMP giveaway at the bottom, but you have to read through it all for it to make sense, kay?!

Yep I'm the big 2-9 today! I know, I know, hardly so old at all, but this is the last year of my twenties. I hear 30 is the new 20 and all my friends are doing it, so it can't be all that bad right? ;)

I saw on a bloggie friends post a couple weeks ago a list of things she wanted to do before she turned 28...a list of 27 things. Thanks for the awesome idea Katy! So being the goal setting and list loving person that I am, I decided to do a list for myself. Some are a little silly, some are meaningful, some I really hope to accomplish and some are there just to get me to do them. Some goals will make me stretch and while others may seem easy, well it's all about making the time to actually do them.

I'm giving myself from today until the end of next year on my birthday to finish the list. Sort of fitting that my birthday is the last day of the year so it feels like I have an entire and complete full year with this list. Which I actually do (and you could too!). I like it. Plus, it totally works for those New Years resolutions that usually go right out the window after January.
So I present to you.....

29 Things Before I'm 30

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. – Mark Twain

1. Project 365
2. Renew our vows for our 10 year anniversary
3. Go on a cruise for our 10 year anniversary (August 2011)
4. Get a passport
5. Complete Couch to 5k program
6. Run in a 5k
7. Lose 10 pounds
8. Read at least one book a month
9. Get a new tattoo
10. Take a cake decorating class
11. One day without technology…NONE, not even texts/phone calls/tv, etc.
12. 40 bags in 40 days - (March 9th to April 23rd)
13. Plan and attend 2nd annual Girlfriends Getaway
14. Blog every day for a whole month
15. Complete all challenges from the 52 More Scrapbook Challenges book (39 left)
16. Print pictures through June 2010
17. Learn how to can and make Jake’s Grandma’s fruit cocktail and salsa
18. Go on at least one road trip this year
19. Buy Someone Like You for my bf Sara and mail it with a letter telling her how much she means to me
20. Start geocaching with Jake and the kids
21. Find 10 geocaches this summer
22. Redecorate Gwynie’s room
23. Redecorate Brady’s room
24. Buy a freaking pair of glasses so I don’t wear my contacts all the time
25. Attend at least 5 sporting events
26. Go snowboarding with the fam (even though I hate snow)
27.
28.
29.

I'm hoping that I can update here often (or sporadically as the case may be) as I check off goals, cross things off my list, and feel that sense of accomplishment as I tackle each item. I really hope that I can stay focused on this all year long, ha!

But, did you notice the list is not complete? That's where you come in, with my next piece of fun! I have a stamp set to giveaway, and for your comment I want to know what can I add to my goal list! I have three spaces open, and I may leave them open until something really good comes up, but I'd like to fill it in now if all possible.

So, to win my favorite SSD stamp set Cupcake Cutie, (which totally fits for a birthday giveaway!) simply leave me a comment about your New Years goals, or something I can add to my list! You can leave comments up until Wednesday, January 5th, and I will announce the winner on the 6th! Hopefully I'll be able to fill you in on those last three goals at that time too. :)

Have a wonderful New Years Eve and take care!

Happy Holidays!

Even though the Christmas rush is over, you could still send out a "Happy Holidays" card to friends and family to ring in the New Year if you missed some Christmas cards here and there. Please tell me I'm not the only one that totally crashed and burned in sending out cards this year? ;) Since we're all about time these days (and keeping cards simple for mailing costs), how about a super simple and super flat last minute card? (Yeah, cause I'm really liking that nowadays!)

This card uses the newly released Sentiment Frames #1 for a simple "no-layer" design. Stamp the frame in red, sentiment in black, top off with a little bling and BAM...done! You likey? The thing I love most is that you can change out the colors and sentiment with the other Birthday and Congrats sentiments in this set to create an adorable little gift set. Think I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

TOMORROW is my birthday! Not like I'm doing a countdown or anything of that nature (ha), but I'm kinda excited. If you can't tell. ;) Having my birthday on New Years Eve has always been fun because my parents made it that way. I'm pretty lucky like that really! But I do have a fun little post I'm working on centering around how old I'll be (any guesses?), my goals for the new year, and a fun giveaway for a birthday surprise! See you tomorrow!

May all your wishes...

Yesterday was my best friend Sara's birthday! We've been besties since 8th grade and are going on 15 years of being friends....WOW! That's longer than I've been married, haha! To say we've had some good times is a huge understatement. I only get to see her a couple times a year (if that) so it's always so fun when we get to visit!

This is the birthday card I sent her...really simple and flat for mailing, but soft and soothing. Kinda like she is...the soothing part I mean. ;) I used the sentiment and dandelion from Dandelion Dreams by Skipping Stones Design. Super simple and really quick, but just enough during this busy holiday rush! Glad it's starting to get back to normal, ha!

I have a fun (at least I think) post I'll be sharing on Friday, which happens to be my birthday as well as New Year's Eve (fun!) so make sure you stop back! ;)

Happy Brrrthday!

Welcome to another fabulous Tuesday! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty exhausted from all the Christmas festivities! We had a blast though, and the kids enjoyed every minute of it!

This will be our last sketch for December from our super awesome sketch artist this month, Maile Belles! The sketches have all been so fun, simple and clean just like Maile's signature style. Here is sketch #57!

I pulled out the newly released set Brrrthday to create a simple, wintery birthday card. My friend Cammie's birthday was on Sunday (yep the day after Christmas!), and I wanted to do a rich and colorful card that played on the winter theme, but not Christmas. Brrrthday has some gorgeous snowflakes, a snow angel, an adorable penguin and a lot of fabulous sentiments. Perfect for birthday, thanks, thinking of you, etc. Love it!

Thanks snow much!

It's another fabulous Tuesday and we've got a great new sketch for you! We're joined by some great guests this month, and our Guest Sketch Artist this month is Maile Belles!

We have such a fun sketch to work with this week! I loved seeing the variations on this sketch from our talented DT and our guests! Here is sketch #56!

I paired this clean and simple sketch up with some crisp and clean colors from the current JUGS challenge!

Then I paired up the recently released Brrrthday, which the DT is showcasing today, to create this super simple but fun seasonal thanks card!

Sprayed a little glitter misty stuff over the stamped snowflakes and sentiment for that sparkling snow look. I just love these snowflakes, they are so gorgeous!

Dreamweavers Stencils!

I had a fabulous opportunity to have some awesome Dreamweavers instructors in my area come do a workshop at my house this past weekend. It was so fun learning new techniques and adding some great stencils and pastes to my collection!

Here are three of the cards we created this weekend!

Double Glitter Technique

Paste and FX

Paste and Glitter

I played around with the Double Glitter technique and created this one layer card with this adorable Santa! I'm linking up this card to the Dreamweavers challenge this week which is an open challenge using your stencils.

I can't wait to try out some more of my stencils and pastes, it's so much fun! Looking forward to a new challenge!

Happy Holidays & SSD Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop to celebrate the release of two new sets, Sentiment Frames #1 and Brrrthday! Today the DT and Guests of SSD will be featuring cards using Sentiment Frames #1. If you've just happened upon my blog today, make sure to start from the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have arrived here from Jennifer's blog.

Combined with the blog hop today, it's also Skipping Stones Sketch Tuesday which means we're showcasing another great creation from our Guest Sketch Artist this month, Maile Belles. We'd love for you to play along with the sketch and link your card at the Skipping Stones Blog. A free stamp set is up for grabs to a lucky winner that joins our sketch challenge!

Here is the super fun sketch we had this week, with lots of room for interpretation and plenty of white space!

I ended up flipping the sketch and created this card using Timeless Textures for the background sheet music, and Sentiment Frames #1 for the tag and sentiment.

One of the fun things with this little tag framer is that there is no right or wrong way to have your brackets go! I just loved how the "bottom" stamp fit right into my Top Note Die to create such a fun frame for the sentiment!

During our fun holiday blog hop, I have stamp set to giveaway! :) I have Christmas Swirls up for grabs, and even if you don't win it, you can purchase it on sale right now for $11.99! Simply leave me a comment telling me your favorite Christmas or holiday tradition, or well, anything you want to share today! ;) This contest will close on Thursday at midnight and a winner will be posted on Friday!

Your next stop on the hop is to Tammie!

Happy Holidays!

It's the "most wonderful time of the year," but the busiest time of all too isn't it?! I can't believe we are almost halfway through the month of December, let alone going into a whole new year! Eeek, that is just so crazy! Since it's been pretty busy here at the Phillips house with Wrestling and all the Christmas tidings, I haven't had a whole ton of crafty time. You all in the same boat with me? ;)

I do have a quickie layout to share today though. This was created when I did an article for MS Punch Around the Page punches and I loved the new paper they sent me a few samples of as well! It was so fun, quick and easy to punch a few snowflakes and add my pictures to this super simple layout. We always love to go look at the lights Downtown, but didn't make time for it last year. Hopefully we'll get to do that this year, but at least we have the memories and photos of years past!

Make sure to check in tomorrow as we'll be doing a blog hop to celebrate two new Skipping Stones Designs stamp releases, and I may just have a stamp set up for grabs! ;)

SSD #54

It's another fabulous Tuesday and we've got a great new sketch for you! We're joined by some great guests this month, and if you missed it yesterday take a look at the post I did here on the SSD blog!

Our Guest Sketch Artist this month is Maile Belles, and we have such a fun sketch to work with this week! I loved seeing the variations on this sketch from our talented DT and our guests!

I wanted to really play with those flourishes in the sketch so I stitched with some silver cord to tie in with the fun trim we got in our Winter Wonderland packets last month from Christopher Pines!

It's hard to tell in the picture, but the red is dry embossed with my Big Shot, and the stars and sentiment are from Christmas Swirls.

Love this fun sketch and I might just have to play again! I was crunched for time on this card last week because I went out of town so I'd love to see what else I can do with this fun sketch. You can all play along and have a chance to win a Free stamp set!

There's also a sale going on right now that you don't want to miss! This goes on until next Tuesday night!

Marvy Snow Pen

Hey everyone! I have another article going up today at Craft Critique that you'll want to check out for some of your winter projects! It's all about adding SNOW to your projects, but not only that! :)

I've already shared some of the cards I used as examples on the blog-o so now you can find out how I did them!

Hope Happens

Here is another card I shared in one of my articles!

I used Cancer Schmancer to make this serene hope card. The frame was made with the Punch Around the Pages punches and I tucked the vanilla square in under the tabs. It made the perfect frame for the beautiful butterfly!

Such a simple little card, but I love those colors and the softness of it!

Supplies
CS: Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose, Prints Pack DSP
Ink: Sahara Sand, Regal Rose
Stamps: Cancer Schmancer
Misc: half back pearls, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Punch Around the Page punches

This is the snow we got on Sunday and I thought it would be a good time to share some snowflake cards.

You may have seen them already if you saw my article at Craft Critique, but they each have peeks at a new set coming out this month!

Both of those sentiments are in this set which will be released 12/15 so you'll want to watch for it! There are some gorgeous snowflakes and a few wintery friends along with some fabby winter sentiments! I can't wait until you see it, so fun!

Saying Goodbye...

Saying goodbye is a hard thing to do! Our friends are moving to Colorado today and I'm super bummed they're leaving! :( We got together over the weekend for a little going away party and it was so nice to be able to see them before they left. Melissa is expecting a baby girl at the end of March so we promised we'd be up in the spring to come visit them and the new baby!

We wish them all the best on their move and much success! We will miss the get togethers, parties, and tasting new wines together. (Well me at least, Jake doesn't like wine!) But mostly we'll miss their great company and the good conversations we had. Good luck guys, we love ya!

PS - Jake has been growing a mustache for MOVEMBER and although this is for a great cause (it raises awareness and funds for men's health and cancer), I can't wait until Tuesday when he can shave it off! ;)

Thankful

I meant to post this on Thursday, sorry!

Today I am thankful for many things....

I have a lot of things to be thankful for, and I wanted to share a fun list of those things!

10. Post-Its

I know it's silly, but I LOVE Post-Its! I use them so often that they have to be on this list! From grocery lists, to-do lists, and even card sketches or color combo ideas, I use my Post-Its!

9. Coke Zero

I used to be a huge Pepsi drinker, but wanting to cut the extra calories I switched to Coke Zero. I honestly can't go back to regular Pepsi now, but I can't handle any Diet...so Coke Zero it is! I've tried the Pepsi Maxx, but for some reason this is the one I prefer!

8. Books

How could this be a complete list of things I'm thankful for without books being on here?! I love diving into a great book! So, I'm thankful for those authors that pour their heart and souls into their work so that we can enjoy them.

7. Cheesecake

Raspberry to be specific! ;) Looove cheesecake! Not much more to say about this one, ha!

6. Wrestling

Brady at the Utah Summer Games. One of his pins during the season last year.

Jake coaching the high schoolers at one of their duals last year. He's the blue in the sea of black.

Gwynie, Jake, Brady and me at the Utah Summer Games, June 2010. Both Jake and Brady wrestled and each medaled in both styles (Freestyle and Folkstyle).

Jake (who would probably kill me if he saw this pic of him in a singlet on my blog, haha) in the blue, at the Summer Games. This is his "ankle pick" that no one can block.

Another Summer Games photo. Brady gets so determined and I'm pretty sure he's checking the clock and the score in this picture. ;)

Ok, maybe some days I'm not thankful for this (wink, wink), but I love that Jake is a coach and that my little guy Brady loves to wrestle. Jake does his regular job, and then coaches high schoolers and is the Director of their Freestyle club. I know he loves it, and that's why I love it, and I'm thankful that he has this opportunity. Plus, his pay for the season pays for our vacations...which leads me to....

5. Vacations

Daytona Beach, August 2010

We love vacations! Whether it's a road trip, a mini vacation, or visiting family, we love to travel! We got to spend 10 awesome days with my family this summer and had a blast! My kids also do amazing on road trips so we know we can just pack the SUV up and go just about anywhere with them! They're only 11 and 7 and are already asking when we can go to Paris and London, haha. I have a feeling we'll be doing some super fun vacations in just a few years once Brady is a little older! I'm so thankful that my family loves to travel and that we have the means to do so.

4. Hobbies

I love, love, love papercrafting! I am so thankful to be on a team with SSD and be surrounded by awesome people in that group! I also love writing articles for Craft Critique. It combines my love of writing along with my passion for crafting. Two happy little worlds combine! I'm also thankful for blogging and all the awesome peeps out there like you! Thank you for stopping by my little blog and thank you for your sweet comments that are so kind and encouraging!

3. My job

If you're one of my friends on Facebook then you know how much I love the company I work for, and the people I work with. I'm so fortunate to have a job I love and one that I truly enjoy doing.

2. Friends

Nick, Brooke, me and Jake - May 2008

Steph, Melissa, Sharon, Mel, Kelly, me - Halloween 2009

Me, Steph and Mel - Halloween 2010

I have the best friends a girl could ask for! There have been so many things happen to each of my girlfriends recently both good and bad. I am so thankful that I could be a part of their lives to help share the burden or celebrate the happiness with them. I cannot imagine my life without any of these girlies!

1. Family

Uncle, Josh (brother in law), Laci, Dad, Kyle (bro), Mom, Shae, me, Jake, Brady and Gwynie

My side of the family when we were in Florida. Not to leave Jake's family out, we just haven't had a group pic for awhile. ;) I'm the oldest of my siblings and I love these guys so much! (PS - we were on a slant, Jake is actually a little taller than me not shorter like he looks in the pic, ha)
My sisters....We laugh so hard when we're together! And we all fake smile after we've been drinking a little bit (ok a lot). ;)

I am so thankful for my family. I am who I am because of them. My parents are so amazing and my siblings rock. Jake is the perfect guy for me, and my kids are the freaking coolest kids ever. Seriously. I wouldn't change a single thing about any one of them.
All in all, I have a lot to be thankful for.

Commit 2 Paper October Pages

Wow, where did the time go?! I never posted my layouts from the Commit 2 Paper October kit!

You can check out the Gallery to see what the other Inspiration Squad girls did with this kit. I did something different this time, and decided that I wanted to use ONLY 4x6 photos with these layouts. Make them quickly and not trim down any photos. It was a challenge in some cases, but so simple in others. The "Family" layout is my definite fav from this bunch. :)

All past kits are now only $10 each! Crazy deal right? These kits are so awesome, you should totally look into it!

Crafters Companion Article

Hey everyone! I had an article go up today at Craft Critique (7am CST I believe) for a review of some awesome products from Crafters Companion. Be sure to check it out because there is a giveaway for commenters on the post! Good luck!

SSD #52 & PINK TUESDAY!

Welcome to another fabulous Tuesday! It's a short week here in the US with our upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and I'm feeling super thankful today! Thankful for this super fun hobby that I get to share with awesome peeps like you gals, and thankful for so many other things. :)

Anyway, it's Tuesday and you know that means another Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge! Did you know you can win stamp sets or discounts on stamp sets by participating in our challenges?! Check it out, you may be a winner for playing along in our fun sketch challenge!

Here is another rockin' sketch from our Guest Sketch Artist this month, Shannan Teubner.

Awhile back our DT member Brenda posted on her blog a challenge to do something out of your comfort zone, to break some of the "rules" you have in crafting. Well, I finally did it on this card! I'm normally not a fan of white and kraft together. No clue why, but usually don't mix the two. I actually really like how these colors came together and it felt good to "break the rules" I imposed upon myself. ;)

The snowflakes from Sassy Snow were embossed in clear ep, and then I rubbed the white craft pad over the cardstock. Wiped away the ink from the embossed snowflakes, and then added some dots from Garden Stamp Kiss over top of the snowflakes.

We actually got dumped on with snow on Sunday and are expecting another 8-15 inches today and tomorrow...so I guess I'm all in the wintery weather mode with this card! Notice the white trim? That's some more from the Winter Wonderland pack of trims from the super sweet Lesley of Christopher Pines.

Now how about some SALE info?! Starting today....it's PINK TUESDAY!

For every $25 you spend you get a $5 gift certificate ....The Gift certificates are good for 1 year, and you can use them starting Black Friday....
